Crazy About Birds

By Kimb

Mr. & Mrs. Towhee

An Eastern Towhee pair. She on the left, he on the right. There were at least two male Towhees fighting over - wooing - this female, I think.

Today was a gentle introduction to our week, just birding around the property where the group dinners and talks are held. There was some bird banding going on, some sitting around chatting, nothing too intense. A nice talk in the afternoon by a woman who runs a bird rescue center in Cheat, West Virginia; and a great talk tonight about all sorts of flora and fauna. Tomorrow we meet at 6:00AM for breakfast and then head out in various groups for the first of five real days of serious birding.
