Howick Hall

Just around the corner is Howick Hall. It's a huge estate where they've been setting up an arboretum since 1984. It's still a bit young, but there's a lot of good walking - much more extensive than Alnwick Castle.

The stately home looks a bit run down. It was the home of Earl Grey, but apart from the eponymous tea shop there's no sign of his family. And the vegetation seems to be spreading into the patio.

Then back home via Dunbar to an evening showing of Temple Grandin with the family.
