Guess the shrub........

After a long walk this morning in the sun, decided after lunch to attack a corner of my garden that has been rather neglected. There is a Clematis that rampantly weaves its way amongst the foliage, to burst into beautiful white flowers, which no one sees because this shrub has grown so much. So loppers and secateurs in hands I went on the attack!
And this photo is the result of what I found. Had never looked this close at the shrubs new growth before. And the shrub a Fatsia Japonica.
