Hustings-Dunblane

Just back from local election Hustings in Dunblane.  This was the first time we had ever been to such an event  and had no idea what to expect.

Well, it was quite an orderly affair: no heckling, no shouting of abuse at candidates, no vociferous arguments . But then this is Dunblane, not Glasgow.

In fact it only really got a bit lively when Park of Keir came up at the end. We had submitted questions in advance and with only ten minutes to go before the end of the meeting they still had not been put to the candidates.

It was the chairman who finally decided to broaden the meeting out beyond local taxes and deal with housing and the environment. And that's when it got interesting. It soon became clear though that there was no support for the Judy Murray  project which now rests with the Scottish Minister to make the final decision.

Our petition to Nicola Sturgeon is over 1,100 and going up daily.  Today we got coverage both on Scottish Television and BBC online web-sites along with the Daily Record and The Herald (Glasgow).

Thanks to the election we are now in the news again . We learnt that the developers have been lobbying the Scottish Parliament claiming the proposed tennis centre was of "national importance"!
