Royal Gnomes....

Most people will have heard of gnomes, the dimiuative magical creatures said to inhabit our woods and forests. People outside of the U.K. may not know about Garden Gnomes though. They divide opinion in the U.K. to be honest. Representations of the magical creatures, in wood, stone, concrete or plastic, are used to decorate people's gardens. Some people loathe the idea while others have them scattered around their gardens like confetti at a wedding. I'm on the fence. While I like to see them, especially in bulk, in other people's gardens, I wouldn't like to see them in our garden. This from the guy who rescued doggie planters from ASDA's crusher and they are still doing well. The world famous Chelsea Flower Show has a complete ban on them being included in any of the show gardens but relented a couple of years ago when they were celebrating a significant anniversary.

The Queen celebrated a significant birthday a few days ago. People said kind things in exhalted places and, apart from a bit of a wander around Windsor town, she had a quiet day at home with the family. Being the Queen you get two birthdays of course, your actual one and an official one which comes up in June. We seem to be making a bit more of the official one and things are beginning to creep into the shops to help us celebrate the event. We do enjoy a royal event. By far the best so far that I have seen are these royal gnomes from ASDA. One is a palace guardsman, one a royal corgi and there is one of Her Majesty herself. I wonder if she's seen it? If Prince Harry has I'm pretty sure one will turn up at the palace. Apparently the ones of the Queen are limited editions with each having a number underneath. We thought about checking these in ASDA but thought that it's probably treasonable to turn the Queen upside down and inspect her nether regions.

I have been banned from bringing any of these home but I might be able to smuggle a corgi in.
