Ring Ouzel

For our Saturday walk we parked at Auchallater and climbed Creag nan Gabhar. It's a Corbett - a Scottish hill between 2500 and 3000 feet high, and separated by at least 500 feet from adjacent hills.

These hills can seem quite empty of wildlife at times. Today we were favoured to discover a small frog, a worn-out dragonfly, a golden plover or two, and an unidentified small bird (possibly a young wheatear).

My best picture, though, was of this ring ouzel. He ran along the track ahead of us, keeping his back turned, before flying off at last to pose on this outcrop.
