Fort de la Malmaison

We got alarming massages about mum's state of health. Except phisical complaints there are also mental problems now. Mum becomes more and more confused and loses contact with the real world. I'm rather worried about that and waiting anxiously for the next message(s).

Today we made a tour along the Chemin des Dames. A road through the battlefields of the north of France in World wars I and II.

We visited Fort de la Malmaison. The history of the fort is from World war I but in the fields around the fort are the graves of German soldiers, fallen in the battles there between 1939and 1945 ...

On the picture you see the inside of the memorial hall with the memorial (in the floor). In the background you can see a part of the 11.808 black crosses, one for each grave ...

The good news is about the weather. A bright and sunny sky during the whole day, with now and then a small white cloud for a needed break and an average temperature of 20°C ... ;)
