Battle of the Somme

I was away for ANZAC day this year ( Australia and NZ Army Corp) and never got around to photographing this display in our town until today. Lucky as a man came along to take it down so was just in time.
A sobering reminder of those who died for our freedom; It was all cardboard cut outs but very well done right down to the freshly dug grave with poppies and empty bullet cases lying on it and an inscripted  headstone behind. The flag was pretty tattered but someone had left a brand new one at the site so obviously thought the RSA needed a new one. The sad look on the face of the nurse said it all.
