Sun's out guns out

There has been a lot of pale flesh on display today, showing a rather pinky-red hue by the end of the day.

The sun brings the country to life as people don't have to shuttle between sheltered indoor havens for warmth and dryness. It's such a pleasant feeling to be cycling and walking about in balmier air. I dug out my shorts and paraded bare legs like everyone else.

In Bournemouth the atmosphere on the beach was lively with people breaking out BBQs and beers into the evening. The groynes provided shelter from the cooler wind, Harry Ramsden's was massively over-subscribed and the queue at the ice cream stand showed no sign of diminishing. It was interesting to see the landslip that damaged the cliff lift and buried some toilets. Soil and rock are heavy.
