Thanksgiving Day Parade.

My first day in New York and we tried to get as near as possible to the Macy's Parade which started at 9 a.m. and finished at noon. Most of the streets were cordoned off so it was difficult. However, we stood pretty near for half an hour and then retired to an Irish Bar - purely to warm ourselves up with an Irish coffee!! Had a hilarious chat with a lady from New Jersey, who was fascinated with the fact that we were originally from Liverpool and knew the Beatles!! She insisted on taking our photograph and giving us hugs as we left!! Very friendly these Americans!!
Left there and made for the Rock Centre Cafe where we were booked for lunch. Our table was right next to the Ice Rink. Had the Thanksgiving Day 3-course Lunch of turkey etc. which was gorgeous - highlighted by a guy who proposed to his girl-friend on the ice rink! Everyone stood and applauded them. It was so romantic.
At 4p.m. we had tickets for the Radio City Christmas Show. I couldn't hope to describe this. It was magical.
A full day, but fantastic! I slept well!!
