Blue With a Hint of Green

The bluebells are in full swing so it must be Parrots Drumble time! It's a local nature reserve owned and managed by the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust. The name comes from the previous owners the Parrot family and a local word for a stream running through a wooded valley - drumble.

It's located behind a retail outlet complex and an industrial estate. And is squeezed by the A500 on one side. That doesn't sound too inviting but it's a haven for bluebells at this time of the year.

I think we timed our visit perfectly this year. The smell was intoxicating and the dappled light showed off the bluebells wonderfully.

I'd even managed a trip to Trentham early this morning befor the crowds and heat descended. The swan's eggs have started to hatch, but I didn't see any cygnets.
