The Edge of the Wold

Evening reflections

I should have blipped this on the evening it was taken, but life has been busy.  I watched the sun set at Sandside on a still evening when the water reflected the fiery clouds.  As I took this an oystercatcher flew across piping loudly.

It was an unusual evening as I was out without Gus, the poor lad was recovering from a trip to the doggy dentist that left him short of a few teeth.  When he first came to us three years ago, his teeth were in poor shape after years of neglect and poor diet, and we have tried to improve their condition without resorting to drastic action.  Alas, the time had come when something needed to be done.  When we picked him up after work, he was woozy and stumbling from the anaesthetic, but when he saw the open boot of the car, he dived into his sanctuary.

As I write this 10 days later, he is recovered to his usual bouncy self, and even his limp has gone now.  Indeed, he is much better than he was before, his teeth may have been giving him more discomfort than we knew.  He still has a lovely smile too.

It's been an up and down, topsy-turvy time since the funeral of the Old Flyer.  I shall try and backblip a few more days and explain what has been happening.
