Heritage

I moved to Milton Keynes in 1971. There wasn't much evidence of the city at the time but the Milton Keynes Development Corporation was busy drawing up plans for our super new "City of Trees". That's only just over 40 years ago so when it comes to looking for "heritage" not much springs easily to mind.

The Grand Union Canal which runs through the city was here long before Milton keynes was ever dreamt of. It's been here since the early 1800's. there are many modern bridges crossing the canal in constant use by cars and lorries but this one doesn't see much in the way of traffic......... unless you count me on my bike!

Extras - The sign is obviously much younger than the bridge but it's not wearing quite as well. An old canal boat lovingly restored to enable its owners to take advantage of the old waterway.
