Hawne Basin

This is about a mile from the place where I got my Blip yesterday of Halas Abbey.  That old Abbey is on the edge of the green belt land marking the transition from urban industrial to rural Worcestershire.  This shot, is well into the industrial heartland of the Black Country on those oh so significant canals which were such an important part of the network of the supply chain at one time.  Now, they are part of the leisure provision in our country as a whole, and there is an extensive network in and around the Midlands.  They form an interesting environment and mingle happily with the old steelworks you can see in this shot, along with the bridge leading into the Hawne Basin, where many canal barges still reside - see extra.

A fascinating part of our heritage for MonoMonday I think.
