Transit of Mercury

Taken at 15.13. The transit across the sun lasted from 11.12 to 18.42 GMT. A clear, blue sky day, great conditions for a good sighting. This happens about 14 times a century.

Fascinating to chat to a skywatcher, and discuss the telescope set up.

You will have to zoom in on large sun circle. Mercury is a tiny dot around the midline, about a quarter across on the right. The larger dot in the upper third is a sun flare. The sun and Mercury move quicker than I realised.
