Brixton Village

This is Victor. He runs a very friendly bistro in the newly-hip Brixton Village. It's been some 24 years or so since I  was in the heart of Brixton Market. I was in the area to conduct some interviews about the changing history of the area and how those changes impacted residents and business-holders. He told me of the pressures imposed on traders to change the way they operate and the sharp rent hikes.

Over the last quarter century, since I last visited, the plethora of traditional meat & fish stalls in the indoor market has given way to all manner of bistro-type eateries serving aromatic street food from around the world. Spain, Chile, Ghana, Italy, Portugal, Brazil and others are all deliciously represented in those historic walkways.
