Wet Wednesday

No, it's not a new blip challenge, it's just what it was here in Milton Keynes today. This afternoon it rained cats and dogs and there was a lot of standing water on the grid roads as I drove around. I thought this photo represented the day well, lovely vibrant Spring colours and a tulip looking very bedraggled in the rain.

There are several possible origins for the phrase 'to rain cats and dogs', but one uncomfortable one is that in bygone centuries the drainage was so poor that during a storm stray animals would be washed down the street. Another possibility is that it comes from the Greek word catadupe meaning waterfall.
