Looks Good To Me

Firewood to Furniture

I asked a friend for a small log of apple wood from his firewood pile, thinking I would make a couple of boxes from it.

Sawing a log on a bandsaw is dangerous if the log is not securely held to prevent it from rotating and jamming the saw blade. I went online and found a video that showed how to make a simple bandsaw sled that does the job nicely, as you can see.

One of the things I enjoy most about woodworking is discovering the previously-hidden beauty of the grain inside a piece of lumber. The ultimate contrast is when starting with a bark-covered log like this.

Extra photo gives a clearer view of the sled. If you look closely, you can see the screws holding the log to the vertical piece.
