The color is getting out!

This wrought iron fence
painted with black enamel
and a squeaky gate
can’t hold a bird or mammal.

This fence that encloses
a small urban garden,
can’t even corral a crow.
Squirrels just come and go.

This fence tolerates no disturbance!
“Stay back!” it likes to shout,
It can’t  contain the tulips,
their color is getting out.

Purples, reds fly over the top of the rail.
Greens and pinks go as they please.
Yellows and oranges pass through the bars,
without so much as a squeeze.
