Project 842 not going quite according to plan

I have had this chest of drawers for about 20 years, possibly longer. Its needs a bit of a refurb. Oddly, the carcass has been varnished but the drawers not. The drawers are fine, the carcass isn't. We tried some varnish remover on the carcass but the results were spectacularly (so far) underwhelming. I think that I am going to have to have it dipped and then I will just wax it. Disappointing.
