SS Great Britain

We are in Bristol for my 40 year medical school reunion, staying in a campsite on the Baltic Wharf, close to the steamship which is today's blip.

Brunel's masterpiece, the SS Great Britain, launched in 1843, was by far the largest ship afloat at that time and the first iron steamer to cross the Atlantic (14 days, 1845).
