Carn Mor Dearg

Day 3 of the hillwalking saw us up Carn Mor Dearg from the car park at Nevis Range. The cloud base was at 1200 metres most of the way up, so the highest hills were in cloud, including ours. We put our crampons on at 840 metres and manged to get up to the top much easier than dodging from rock to rock.  We got the view from the first top and then the second top. Then as we we were going to the main hill we went into the cloud and it wasn't looking too hopeful. It then started to snow and I thought that was that. However after 10 minutes there were glimpses of Aonach Mor and then Aonach Beag, and then the clouds parted to show the arete and the Mamores and then the top of the Ben itself. It was wonderful. The main blip is the Carn Mor Dearg arete and the extras two contrasting views os the Ben. The first from the place we stayed overnight and some early morning sun and mist and the second on our way down as the mist cleared after a second shower. It was a great day's walking.
