Pau

I met Pau today in Eugene, Ore.  His name means "Finished" or "Done" in Hawaiian.  It's a name given to him by friends he made in Hawaii when he lived there years ago. Pau is originally from a small island in Alaska.  He's been homeless since he was 15 and now is an itinerant artist travelling around the United States, usually by train, hitchhiking, or catching rides with friends when he can.  Pau survives by selling art and doing odd jobs for anyone who needs a hand.  He told me some great stories about crazy jobs he's done for people.  Today he was working on a commissioned piece called "The Four Evils," an elaborately detailed, symbolic drawing.
