Making a mockery

These stand by the side of the road to Agios Ioannis sto Kastri and have done so since well before Ms Streep ever visited. Most people don't notice them as they pass, we point them out if we are taking anyone on our 'All-the-highlights-of-the-island-in-one-day' whistle-stop tour. It would be simple to imagine that they have been put there to mock the flocks of tourists but since they pre-date the film they must surely have been put there to mock the pious pilgrims. Further along in the tour we discovered that St Reg's dragon has been hidden behind another icon so only Reg and his merry men are visible. I had begun to notice that references to the dragon are becoming increasingly scarce, I suspect that the church is quietly re-writing history again.
