Bluebell woods...

we managed to go for a walk in our local bluebell woods today.. just before they fade l think.  The sun wasn't at its strongest so the colours were fleeting but no shortage of bluebells and that is for sure!!  On our way round we suddenly spotted a tiny owl chick at the base of a tree.. when we looked up we could see the nest site about 30 foot up a bare trunk.  What to do?? Flossie was on her lead but plenty of other people let their dogs run loose through the woods and l am sure it would not last long on the ground.  We went for our walk wondering what to do for the best.  l know you must never take them away to try to look after them.  This one was a Tawny owl chick.. perhaps about three weeks old (I have discovered online after returning home).  We went for our walk and then went back to visit again to see if it had moved.  It was still sitting there so we decided to lift it up into a tree where it would at least be away from foxes and any marauding dogs and hopefully, come dusk, the mother will find it and feed it.  (i have put a photo in extras..)  Having read a few things online.. it is likely that the Tawny mother will feed it once it has fallen from the nest so fingers crossed.  Also it appears that I may have been lucky that the mother was not watching as they are likely to attack if you go near the chick!!  Perhaps l have Flossie to thank for that!!
