The gardener's friend

I didn't manage to take a single photograph on the last day of the course, despite being up on Ilkley Moor. I was too busy teaching to admire the views, and the grey skies and bitingly cold wind meant we didn't hang around to eat our packed lunches, but decamped to the nearest pub for an end of course social. I could have taken something walking back to Leeds Station, but just wasn't in the mood.

I've (not surprisingly) felt quite tired today after getting up at just after 5 am for three days in a row, but have spent quite a lot of time in the garden - mowing the lawn, weeding a few areas and planting some summer-flowering bulbs that were reduced by 70% in Notcutts, (which we'd only visited to top-up on birdfood). One of our local pairs of robins took advantage of the freshly disturbed soil to gather food for its brood - here it's keeping a sharp look out for its rival, that has a nest somewhere on the other side of the garden.
