Spider lilies

There is an area at the Catawba River where the spider lilies grown in the middle of the river.  The area is protected as it is a state park but one can kayak (I really want to learn to do this!) all around the beds of flowers.  They will be blooming for about 2 weeks and then they are gone until next year.

There is an observation platform but even with my 70-300mm I could not get close enough for detail.   In the extra is a shot of the many little islands full of flowers.
