Let's say this. 
The listener thinking out loud "I understand what you are saying BUT I need the true meaning of what's being said". So why not use GOOGLE Translate.

For a majority of the countrymen whose first written language is neither English, Malay or Mandarin, but somehow they can converse with learnt verbal language such as kriol mandarin, street malay, basic english and dialects. Google translate has been instrumental for me when communicating with these folks.
Try Carbon Dioxide, translated to 2 oxygen with carbon - C02 ( which is quite accurate).
