A Sasanach's Skye photos

Coast below Rigg

The coast in north east Skye, in this case below Rigg, shows some interesting erosion of the horizontal strata from Sedimentary rock.

Beyond the point is Holm Island.

The area is accessed by walking down from number one Rigg, crossing the burn by the old vilage of Rigg and from there heading directly down to the coast. There is a zigzag in the fencing and from the strainer on the right side of the zigzag by climbing over the fence one has access to the original path down to the shore.

The area is interesting for the fossils that are there though these days a licence is now required in Scotland to fosick, chip out or remove fosils.
