Skomer Island Stunner!

We've had an amazing day! The weather was fantastic for a start, with wall to wall sunshine. That was part of the reason for choosing a trip to Skomer Island. The other was the hope of seeing puffins. We saw puffins and so much more.

My main shot is of a razorbill. A real beauty! I have included a shot of a puffin looking out from its burrow in the extras. There were gulls of all kinds, and thousands of guillemots, kittiwakes, a peregrine and a buzzard, oyster catchers, Skomer rabbits, whinchats......and probably more that I've forgotten about. The one bird we couldn't have seen were the manx shearwaters. They would be out at sea during the day, and come back to their burrows at dusk.

What was also quite striking were the bluebells. There were vast swathes of them covering much of the island - and I've added a shot to illustrate this too.

For coastal scenery and bird wildlife it's a perfect spot.
