Bridge Of Flowers

Today Ben and I took a ride to visit his mother in western Massachusetts.  She was so happy to see him, had cooked us a delicious Thai Chicken lunch and then gave us a wonderful tour around the area where she lives.  Lovely small towns with darling little coffee shops, hardware store, ice cream parlor, art gallery and more!  We met many of her acquaintances as we walked and she was so proud to introduce her friends to her "boy Ben".
You can read more about this bridge here.  It was just beautiful, all fresh and blooming with perennials, shrubs, small trees, vines and annuals.  I didn't bring my camera for some reason and left my phone at Hetty's, so I had to use her phone - I have to go back!!

There is a pipeline proposed to carry fracked natural gas from Pennsylvania through New York, Vermont, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.  One of the local builders has built this Thoreau-type cottage (only framed) right in the path of it and plans to build more so that the companies doing this will have to ask permission from him.  The project seems to be on hold for now which is a very good thing.  There was a book of Thoreau's writing tucked into one of the beams and a journal where people could write their thoughts in another.  There were two simple wooden chairs and the extra is Ben contemplating some of the messages and leaving one of his own.

"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined."  H.D. Thoreau
