Hamsey, near Lewes: My Cousin Rachel

This cottage, in the lane leading up to the old church at Hamsey, near Lewes, appears to be formed of giant blocks cut from the chalk of the nearby Downs.

My original intention in going to Hamsey today was to see the church: however, further up the lane I discovered that today was the last day of filming here on location for the forthcoming film of Daphne Du Maurier's My Cousin Rachel. (Today's Extra shows as much as I was able to see of this, before filming started again in earnest at 14:00 after the cast and crew had eaten lunch under a gazebo pitched nearby.)
