The last day of our "Roadie"

Arrived back to Pukekohe late this afternoon after a very brief 3 day tour of Northland with Aidan, all a little weary but have so enjoyed our days away.

Very pleased to wake to beautiful clear skies after yesterday's atrocious weather. First stop was Waitangi, NZ's most famous historic site where in 1840 The Treaty of Waitangi was signed by representatives of the British Crown and various Maori chiefs resulting in the declaration of British  sovereignty over New Zealand.

We really enjoyed spending quite a bit of time in the new museum which has just been opened (see extra's) as well as the meeting house which features wonderful maori carving and weaving. The huge grounds are on a high point overlooking the Bay of Islands, a spectacular view especially on a day like today.

Off to bed now, and will be heading back home tomorrow, taking Ian's Mum with us for a short holiday. Will try and catch up on my comments this week!
