Sand Hill Cranes

Looking for a wayward golf ball, I came across these 4-foot tall Sand Hill Cranes in the woods quacking up a storm.
These tall, gray-bodied, crimson-capped birds breed in open wetlands, fields, and prairies in Norther Michigan. They group together in great numbers, filling the air with distinctive rolling cries. Aggravated, they display to bad golfers an exuberant dance that retains a gangly grace.
