The green way

A Yorkshire Post weekend walk, Tong village and Fulneck circular.
Right on our doorstep, and we have never done this before.
It took us down beautiful old bridleways, through some very old woodland, along streams, ( see extra) and across the fairway of the oldest golf course in the Leeds area founded in 1892.
A slight detour took us to Fulneck village.( see extra photo)
Founded by the Moravians who were a Protestant order in Bohemia, now the Czech Republic.
They arrived in Yorkshire in 1744, and built a fine church and boarding school..
There were just a couple of places where we went slightly wrong, and had to retrace our steps.
Oh and had to double back for about half a mile, as a certain person left her camera on a wall, when stopped for lunch!

The sun shone, the birds sang, and although we were only a few miles from Leeds and Bradford it was so peaceful.

These green belts are so important, and must certainly be preserved.
There are plans to build two thousand houses in this area. I just hope the planners will turn this down.
