Coventry Cathedral Ruins

I had a wander round the cathedral ruins today, very beautiful and thought provoking. For those who don't know, the original cathedral was destroyed in World War 2, and now stands as a monument to reconciliation. I particularly liked the burnt wooden beams formed into a cross at the end, with Jesus' words spoken on the cross, 'Father forgive', carved into the stone behind. Coventry Cathedral is also the centre of the 'Community of the Cross of Nails', which started with medieval nails from the ruins which were formed into crosses and sent to other cathedrals destroyed in World War Two bombing, initially in places like Dresden, Kiel and Berlin, and has now expanded to include locations around the world where reconciliation is needed, whatever the cause. Very powerful testimony of the love and forgiveness in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
