Click!

My main pic is of a click beetle. It was crawling then taking flight momentarily. I was hoping to capture it flying so gave it a nudge with my finger. I know they click themselves out of trouble but nevertheless I was startled when it happened. :) Even though I come from a horticultural background, I didn't know that wireworms, bane to root crop growers, are the larvae of this beetle.

Top right is lovely weevil, one of the largest, Liophloeus tesselatus. Under that is a holly blue butterfly and bottom right a spider's bottom that looks like a dog's face. :)

I've added a pic of a sparrowhawk high in the beautiful blue Essex sky this morning as I love the way the light is catching its fanned tail.
