Volunteers

The conference is almost here. We took possession of the venue and started to get ready for the big day tomorrow.

I arrived at 9:45 with Megan and a trailer load of kit - poster boards, flip charts, printers.... By 10:30 Megan has departed & we were well underway. There were student volunteers, event staff and boxes of goodies to put into the conference bags. But there were no conference bags.

While the team and the steering committee enjoyed a lunch of M&S sarnies, I headed off to Costco to get some cheap plastic bags. Within an hour of bringing them back the actual conference bags had arrived and the team transferred the contents. In the picture they're posing in front of their hard work.

I managed to miss most of the steering committee meeting, which is no great loss. Then we went to the Salisbury for tea - the volunteers, steering committee, a friend of Jutta's (whose name I have misplaced), Nat and Duncan. The service was super-slow, the food was unmemorable and the price was extensive.

Sober, I take the trailer back home and pass out before the onslaught of conference fever.
