Llyn Llydaw from Snowdon

We had been waiting for an available midweek day, the visibility to be good and the weather to be dry ( unsurprisingly an almost impossible mission) to head up Snowdon for a couple of months now. In some ways being only 90 minutes away is a good thing as you can make up minds at the last minute.

I had done the Llanberis and Pyg track in the past so we decided to attempt Snowdon Ranger and that was a great choice, there was plenty of parking and it was lovely and quiet along the route. The biggest shock to the system is when you reach the summit suddenly you are suddenly sharing the space with 100's of people which after only seeing the half dozen people  we passed on the way up our route was  almost overwhelming.

I hadn't been up since the new cafe was built and I have to say I was impressed, large and full of not overly priced stuff considering the location, there is however something slightly strange about going to the loo, drying your hands on a Dyson Airblade walking outside and realising you are at the summit of a mountain.

Not having walked for 5  straight hours for a while now and especially after almost 1000m of height gain I might keep it down to just the usual 3 miles today as I am more than a little stiff!
