Boston

Back in Boston for a flying visit.  We drove up this morning, and we'll be here until Sunday.  It's Mr. W's 65th (how did that happen?) birthday tomorrow, and son Tom, his wife Kristin, and our grandson Elliott will be arriving to spend the Big Day (and night) with us.  This evening, we will be having dinner with a dear friend of many years -- Sandy first came to us from Wisconsin thirty years ago (how did that happen?!) as an au pair to help watch the boys during the summer.  We've been good friends ever since, and now she is married with almost-grown children of her own.  She and her daughter Libby are in town for a singing competition, and we are really looking forward to seeing them both and catching up!  Hopefully tomorrow they will have some time to come visit with Tom and his family, too.

This morning, when I went to check the mail before we left Connecticut, I found an envelope from our grandson Jackson who lives in Florida.  Inside was this fantastic painting he made of the Boston skyline!  He just turned 7, and he came to Boston with us for the first time last summer.  I'm pretty sure this was painted from his memory of the view out of our living room window.  I think it's awesome, and plan to have it framed.

Mabel and BB are spending the weekend at the kennel ... it was just too much to contemplate trying to house train a puppy in the city, in tandem with house guests streaming in and out, and a two year-old in tow!!!  I have a feeling we will have to start back at square one with the house training regime when we return on Sunday.
