Catalan style

We slept well in our extremely silent hotel (I think there were only 2 other guests apart from us) and were up bright and early. We headed out to the cafe on the square for breakfast and found that the market was setting up. Sant Sadurni is a pretty town with a great atmosphere. The cafe was full of regulars; you could tell because the barmaid set up their orders without needing to ask what  they wanted. Strolling back through the market we bought half a kilo of cherries for only 2 euros, and some sprightly basil and parsley plants. The market stalls were rather obscuring the typically Catalan architecture, so we had to look up to appreciate it.

Having packed up the car we paused at the supermarket for a few essentials such as saffron and washing machine detergent (the latter being half the price in Spain that it is in France). Then it was a trouble-free drive home in bright sunshine as opposed to the diabolical conditions of the drive down. We were back by lunchtime. Cat: ecstatic, once he'd got over his initial trauma. He spent every available moment of the day on my lap from then on.
