There Was Paddling

14.5C reported from the Met. Office observation site at Campbeltown Airport, but 19C from the car thermometer which is much more like the warmth we felt. Sunny, bright, and hazy. Light Westerly breeze.

Grocery shopping over by mid morning.

We went the ten miles or so South to Southend then followed the road round past Dunaverty beach to Carskey Bay where we had a walk with Maeve the Deerhound from one end of the beach to the other and back. The Antrim coast of Northern Ireland was hidden in the haze. The sea was flat calm. There was paddling. Mostly by Apothecary7, although Maeve did just about get her paws wet. Black Headed gulls and Terns were in evidence over the shallows, the Terns diving close to shore. Gannets further out and Herring Gulls and what I assume were Black Backed gulls along at the end of the beach.

On the way back I parked the car at Keil cemetery and we watched the seals on the rocks. They were on rocks further out from the shore today.

In the afternoon we went down to the garden and tidied up some of the branches from the shrubby tree I cut down earlier in the week. The bigger branches we have used to make a wood pile for bugs and insects at the very bottom of the garden. The twigs and leaves went for recycling.

Later I took Maeve for a wander along to the ferry terminal and back through town. It was cooler.
