Across the Cotswolds

Driving across the Cotswold Hills in the hay-blown evening we stopped by a field dotted with poppies.

We'd driven across to Olney to visit my Mum. She is 90 and 8 months old (bar a few days). I think that elderly people, like little ones, can legitimately count the in-between months in their age! She is stuck in a chair, her memory fading, but her spirit is still strong and she has a powerful grip on life.

There were a lot of frightening big lorries on the road going over, replaced by over-loaded hay wagons on the way back. Farmers have obviously been taking advantage of the sun to gather in the hay. There were also a fair number of cyclists out on the roads - maybe inspired by English (UK?) success in the Tour de France.
