Don't hang around!

Saw this whirling mass of swarming bees settled on a rape seed plant. Needless to say I took a couple of quick shots and scarpered pretty quickly.
Apparently, it is a very natural and wonderful part of the life cycle of honey bees. The reason a bee swarm looks like a clump of bees, is because all of the workers are gathered around the queen, hence forming a clump.

The queen is not the strongest of flyers, and so inevitably will need to rest at some point – perhaps on a branch, post or fence, or in this case, in the middle of a Rape Seed field.

All fascinating stuff, oh to be a bee!

A bee is never as busy as it seems; it's just that it can't buzz any slower.
