The one that got away

I took a ton of pictures of seagulls today. Some of them turned out great--pictures of birds in flight with their wings in interesting postures, I was tempted to post them (probably should have). But a nice as they were, they were pretty ordinary.

This one seems to me to capture more exactly the relationship between the photographer, who must stand still on the ground and try to be quick (or to anticipate) and the bird, who gets to soar where it chooses, and couldn't care less about the photographer.
