Quod oculus meus videt

The Sun Penetrates

It was a glorious start to the day, well worth a walk before breakfast and work.  I decided to head down the tree covered avenue near Chillington.  Despite the strength of the sunlight, the canopy of trees, now full of leaves, prevented the sun penetrating all but the eastern edge of the wooded belt.

There are three paths that run down the avenue.  A central path, arrow straight, which in the past would have seen the horse and carriages approach the grand hall.  Then there are two other paths on either side which wind there way through the trees and are most often used by dog walkers.

I chose the eastern path and was rewarded by glimpses of light illuminating the ground and canopy of trees above.  Less than a month ago hardly a leaf had appeared in parts of the avenue, now it is all fresh and vibrant.  I've also added an extra of some backlit ferns.

The kitchen continues and I've just put a first coat of paint on the new ceiling in the hope of getting a second one on, before the fitters return tomorrow.  I'm keen to get this done before the doors and work surfaces are installed.  All the cabinets are in place so it required some careful cutting in (woe betide I get a lick of paint on the new kitchen units!).  The ovens are in, but not connected but we are promised a working oven by tomorrow.  Yippee, I maybe able to cook something other than a microwave dinner!
