Peaceful

As a volunteer, my brother is helping Scottish Canals tart up the Muirtown Basin and I walked along to the point with him on a very humid day. It kind of cheered me up after a painful visit to the dentist (left my lefthand upper molar behind) :((

He told me the story of a pair of ducks who had built a nest and laid eggs in the cockpit of a couple's boat - visitors from Glasgow (?). They told the authorities who said it was illegal to move nesting birds and they had to travel home without their boat. It will have to stay in Inverness until the ducklings have hatched out. Scottish Canals staff are visiting the boat everyday to monitor the eggs' progress because when they hatch they will have to manually lift them out of the footwell of the boat to feed. They will apparently be taken to a duck sanctuary away from the basin...! Funny story but not for the couple who had to take the train home and leave their boat behind!
