Loch of the Lowes

A morning in the garden doing jobs like cleaning weed from the ponds (yuk!) deserved a reward in the afternoon of another warm, sunny day.  We took ourselves off to the Loch of the Lowes to visit the ospreys, having read that three chicks have hatched recently'

We watched, enthralled, as the male dived into the loch for fish to feed his family, although the female seemed less than impressed with the small trout he brought back:-)  She soon sent him on his way again to bring some more as one fish between five of them didn't go far!  My extras include a long distance shot of the female, but unfortunately the chicks can't be seen.

There was also the pleasure of seeing one of the Great Crested Grebes sitting on their nest in the loch, although it was mostly sleeping and difficult to photograph.

Closer to home, I watched as a sparrow fed its two youngsters who looked to be bigger than the adult:-)

Long may this weather continue and hope we'll all share some of the sunshine!
