The garden has suffered hugely for the marathon - it's going to need a lot of work.

The run has taken its toll on my body, too. The loss of temperature control has been the most worrying: the toenails and sunburn are easy to understand. I'm hoping it's a salts imbalance: the heat on Sunday meant we drank a lot of water. The most heartening thing is that apart from some tightness in one knee, my muscles and joints seem fine. I went to work on Monday and have been cycling as usual with no problems. Some sleep would be good. Maybe tonight.

A little half marathon in Brighton in February is winking at me now.
