Serious polishing...

I made a short visit to see Russ today to have a look at a minor issue with the paintwork on my car.

Russ is currently working on a friends car giving it a 3 stage polish. This involves, as its name suggests, three passes of increasingly fine polish and lots and lots of elbow grease (even when using an powered orbital polishing tool). That's not the end of the story. After that there's a sealing liquid that protects the paint and then a proper waxing.
The scary thing is a tiny bottle of the sealant costs a whacking £250+ when I say tiny, its the size of a bottle of food colouring. The upside is (if there is one) that it will cover two cars. How, I'm not quite sure.

Most of us are used to using liquid wax from a large bottle, but, the best wax apparently is from a metal tub - just like we used to use many years ago.

Sounds like overkill?
You should see the finish that you get when its done. It really is mirror like.
Some colours look stunning in the right light.

The sealant and wax also means that for months any muck simply rinses off. Continued waxing keeps it that way. You simply can't wet the surface. It doesn't bead - everything just runs off.
Do it to the wheels and easing the car it seems becomes just a few minutes work.

As you can imagine - it doesn't come cheap for the full works - i.e. the price has several noughts on it. Ouch.
